About This Project

AVILAstudio was approached by a Florist Retailer who had been granted the permission for a temporary installation of a 15 m tall Floral Christmas tree in the main hall of St. Pancras Station in November 2017. The tree structure had to be addressed in order to comply with the requirement of limited weight and installation of the flower dressing skirts in modules and overnight. The three structure was therefore designed to include 5 independent modules, approx. 3m high to be constructed off-site, shipped over for erection over-night and then solidly joined together. The main limits imposed to the design and execution of the project were given both in terms of time (2 weeks from design to completion) and overall structural weight allowed to be placed on the station floor by Network Rail directives. The project was completed on time, successfully installed within the first week of December and passengers could enjoy the heart-warming tree over the Christmas period.
